2021 Alumni Regional Visits
As part of the 75 th anniversary of Australia’s diplomatic presence in the Philippines in 2021, the Australian Embassy in the Philippines – led by Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Steven J Robinson AO, Deputy Head of Mission Richard Sisson, and other key officials – visited alumni communities in 19 provinces across the Philippines from April to December 2021.
The regional visits started in Bukidnon in April 2021 with the Philippines-Australia Friendship Caravan – an initiative to plant 750 “friendship trees” across the Philippines symbolic of Australia’s deep-rooted friendship with the Philippines and to promote environmental stewardship. The alumni planted at the Mt. Musuan Zoological and Botanical Garden. Friendship Caravans were also held in Manila (Arroceros Forest Park on May 22), Los Banos (UP Los Banos on July 30), General Santos (Plaza Heneral Santos on September 2), Paoay (Paoay Sand Dunes on September 22), Surigao City (Punta
Bilar on October 24 ), and Davao (Ayala Carbon Forest on December 18 ).
Australia’s alumni community in the Philippines is a dynamic network composed of Australia-educated Filipinos and alumni of Australia-supported programs.
