The REAP completion requirement for newly-returned Australia Awards scholars (within 6 months) is at least 25%. They also cannot assume a Team Leader role. For AAS alumni who have returned for more than 7 months, the alumni must have completed 75% of his/her REAP.

An alumnus or group of alumni can submit no more than two (2) different proposals. Additionally, an alumnus can submit an individual proposal even if he is part of a group application provided the alumnus is not a team leader of a group application. The proposal will be assessed based on merit and assessment.

For individual submissions, only alumni residing in the Philippines are eligible. For group applications, Filipino alumni living abroad can join a group as a member or co-lead; the group should have a Team Leader or co-leader residing in the Philippines.

Group composition can be a mix of Alumni and non-alumni. We encourage the Alumnus to serve as a project Team Leader or to hold a key position in the team application. Non-alumni can also hold a key role in the project and is considered “Partner/s” and should be listed in the portion on “Partnerships” in the online form.

The research grants will not provide funds for (i) the conduct of masters or doctoral projects, (ii) payments to non-Philippine nationals for services rendered; and (iii) purchase of furniture, fixtures, equipment or machinery. For development projects, activities and expenses ineligible for funding include (i) academic or short-course trainings to be taken by the alumnus/alumna, (ii) purchase of equipment, machinery and non-expendable supplies, (iii) research-related expenses, (iv) Australia Awards Re-Entry Action Plans (v) travel to other countries by the alumnus/alumna, and (vi) relief activities

Yes as long as the expected outputs and outcomes, timelines and project components to be funded by the proposed research are clearly define. Also, we encourage joint undertaking, partnerships and leveraging on various fund sources for maximum impact.

We highly encourage partnerships with the private sector, relevant Philippines government agencies and Australian organisations (e.g. Academe, NGO, private sector).

Australian alumni or program alumni applying as an individual or Team Leader (in a group submission) should have at least a Masters degree related to topic/field of research to be eligible to apply for a research grant. However, additional qualifications may be required for high-level research proposals, i.e. scientific research.

A feasibility study may be considered for the research grant, subject to an assessment of relevance and impact.

Projects that have been successfully implemented in other communities/regions may be submitted for funding to roll-out best practices in other areas. We encourage that you contextualize the replication, introduce innovation and value-adding consideration to community/organisation impacted by the project.

Relief activities (i.e. provision of health essentials – PPE, masks, test kits, health facilities) are not eligible for funding. However, the development of local community enterprises and/or mechanisms to support relief efforts are acceptable, subject to assessment.

The following activities may be proposed for funding:

1. Community Development activities. These activities will contribute to the development of a specific community or organization e.g. development projects, knowledge and technology transfer activities, workshops and public awareness campaigns.
2. Knowledge sharing activities. These are activities which facilitate knowledge and skills transfers, e.g joint capacity building activities with Australian education institutions in the delivery of training, seminars and workshops.
